Experience

I am an interactive psychotherapist with over 25 years of experience. I received my Masters of Social Work in 1989 from New York University. I have extensive experience working with children, adolescents, individuals and families. In conjunction with traditional modalities, in 2011 I was trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) resulting in dramatic results. This approach is designed to release clients of the hold old wounds/traumas have on their current functioning in a way that traditional therapy may not.

I provide a warm, nonjudgmental/ environment where each client feels supported, respected and empowered. My approach integrates principles of Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral and Psychodynamic theories to help clients reach their goals.

In addition to being a psychotherapist, my husband and I own an all day preschool in Cedar Knolls, New Jersey called My Special Spot. I am onsite part-time to assist our teachers in recognizing children with developmental delays, behavior issues, and speech and language concerns. I am also available to our families to discuss any concerns they may have with their children whether it be at school or at home.

Therapeutic Approach

I use a very interactive approach and strive to create a therapeutic environment where each client feels supported, respected and empowered. My approach integrates principles of Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral and Psychodynamic theories to help clients reach their goals.

Each client receives a thorough psychosocial assessment including detailed family and developmental history towards the goal of creating an individualized treatment plan. Treatment plans are established as a collaborative effort so that client's goals are supported and realized.
